Pony

Pony Lounge & Dining

The look: Perch on a comfy chocolate brown sofa on the exterior timber deck and enjoy the view of Sydney’s oldest cobblestone laneway. This former historic bond warehouse has heritage brick walls, custom goat skin pendant lights hung from the original timber ceiling and theatrical flames bursting from the wood-fired Argentinean inspired grill.
The soundtrack: Eclectic, relaxed and funky. Think smooth tunes from Café Del Mar.
Signature drink: Get into the pony-inspired spirit of things and order an Italian Stallion - a sweet mixture of vanilla bean infused red vermouth with sweet London gin, sanbitter fizz and three citrus zest ($14).
The bar snacks: Head Chef Damian Heads has created a tempting selection of small plates inspired by traditional Mediterranean and modern Australian cuisine. The Australian olives with rosemary, thyme and garlic ($4.50) are made in-house and the Wood Fired chipolatas with tomato relish ($12.90) are great.
Best for: Visiting anytime. It is busy seven days a week.
Wow factor: This is an unusually cool bar and restaurant in a very touristy part of town.
If this bar were an animal it would be: Drrr … a rollicking pony of course.
